ASC Industry Experts in Print: Valerie Lopez, FSA, EA, MSEA, MAAA
Valerie Lopez, Chief Actuary at ASC, showcases her creative talents in an entertaining look at the new mortality tables. Water Cooler Conversation about Mortality Table Updates (Featuring Miss Purry), written by Valerie, appeared in the November 2023 issue of ASEA monthly. Learn what you need to know and have some fun along the way!
After an exceptionally long wait, the IRS published the mortality tables used for IRC 417(e)(3) minimum lump sum calculations and final regulations that govern mortality tables for funding valuations with valuation dates on or after Jan. 1, 2024. Since Mortality Tables are everyone’s favorite topic :), Valerie weighs in together with her office mate Miss Purry (a.k.a. cat), who actually loves the subject!
Topics discussed include applicable mortality tables for 2024 distributions, a trend analysis for how many months of lead time we got between the publication of the tables and the applicable year start date, final Regulations adopted For 1.430(h)(3)-1, and more.
We found Valerie’s article engaging and informative and we think you will too!
