Since our founding in 1981, Actuarial Systems Corporation (ASC) has consistently focused on providing software solutions that increase retirement plan administrators’ productivity and efficiency; ultimately translating to an increase in our customers’ revenue per employee.
We draw this emphasis from the fact that both of us have spent our entire careers in the retirement plan administration arena and are keenly aware of the benefits of properly applied technology. While maintaining our own profitability we also recognize a responsibility to provide our products on an affordable and scalable basis across the entire marketplace. Our clients range in size from a one-person benefits administration firm to some of the largest financial institutions in the world.
In 2005 we joined with industry legal experts, Charles Lockwood and John Griffin, to form a subsidiary, the ASC Institute (ASCi). ASCi brings to you our Document Generation & Management (DGEM) System. The key word is System. DGEM is not a word processing based document program. DGEM utilizes the latest in technology to make creating and managing your documents more efficient than ever before possible.
Additionally, in 2007 we launched our 5500 forms package. Again we have utilized technology to help improve efficiency and quality for the benefit of your clients.
One of our goals is to ensure that our customers enjoy the benefits of emerging technologies with minimal expense and effortless transition.
We take pride in the fact that we have steadfastly maintained our focus and successfully navigated our way through the technological generations from mini-computing, through MS Windows and onto the current .NET environment; all the while maintaining our identity and independence.
Our compliance testing package continues to lead the industry and unquestionably sets the standard for retirement plan testing. The majority of the largest insurance and investment firms in the country rely on ASC’s compliance testing system for their retirement plans. This adaptable system is suited for both high volume small plan testing as well as large plan testing, with plans exceeding 225,000 lives running on ASC.
Our third-generation daily valuation module, DV Direct, developed specifically for the third party administrator is the system of choice for TPAs adding an in-house daily valuation capability. Beyond simply trading mutual funds, DV Direct manages the cash flows into and out of plans; including a complete reconciliation of each plan every day, giving our users peace of mind that trades were completed accurately.
While technology is important, the key to our success is the people that make up ASC. ASC’s staff is comprised of pension professionals and software developers averaging over 15 years of professional experience in the retirement plan industry. Many hold or have held positions and designations within major industry organizations including SOA, ASPPA, SPARK and NIPA.
Before the term CRM (Customer Relationship Management) was coined, ASC developed its own proprietary Customer Support Database. This database has evolved into the ASC Online Customer Support Center (CSC) giving clients instant access to ASC Support, all relevant files and ASC’s on-demand web seminars.
Our focus on you, our customer, has earned ASC a leading position in the retirement plan software industry. Over half of all 401(k) participant accounts are run through an ASC system at some point during the administration and/or testing phase. And this does not include the well over 100,000 other plans running through the ASC system such as defined benefit, smaller 401(k) and other defined contribution plans.
We encourage you to learn more about ASC, discover for yourself why ASC is the system of choice for a growing number of pension professionals, and join our team of very satisfied customers.

ASC Plan Document System
Increase Your Efficiency and Profitability!
In 2004 Alan and Alan met ERISA attorneys, Charles Lockwood and John Griffin. Charles and John had authored plan documents for over two decades and prior to that had spent years on the regulatory side with the Internal Revenue Service and Department of Labor. In 2005, ASC partnered with Charles and John to form a subsidiary of ASC, the ASC Institute (ASCi).
We regret the loss of our dear friend and colleague, Charles Lockwood (obm) in 2016.
However, we endeavor to carry forward his enthusiasm for the industry and love of helping others.
